Family and Welfare
The Family and Welfare Team offers support and encourages families in the Church. It also ensures that everyone who needs help is supported through provision of counsel and finances where appropriate.
The welfare team is there to console and stand with the bereaved as well as to celebrate with members where celebration is required.
We provide quarterly programmes where we prayerfully discuss relevant topics which affect our everyday lives. These topics include marriage, health and nutrition, physical health, emotional health, mental health and so on. These have been a great blessing to many as we have received positive feedback.
A case in point is our “Move More March” in the month of March. Members are encouraged to be active, do more exercises and also watch the nutritional content of the food they eat. We send videos of exercise routines to members to help them be active and also boost their immune system. This helped members to stay strong during the lockdown in 2020 as through it, God had prepared us for the unforseen pandemic.
One area that God has used us immensely to be a blessing to many is in the area of marriage counselling. We provide pre-marital counselling to desiring couples which prepares and empowers them to enjoy their marriages.
The sort of counselling we provide is tailored to suit the individual couple, taking into consideration personalities, their background and spirituality. This we do by asking questions aimed at obtaining information that will help us provide suitable counselling for the couple. The information we obtain help us lay emphasis on areas we find necessary to. All our counselling is strictly confidential.
Getting the desiring couples to embark on the marriage journey to be like-minded, is of utmost importance to us and coming in as a handy weapon to drill into the hearts the desiring couples is God’s word in Philippians 2 v 1-4;
“Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interest of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”
This scripture when received into their hearts creates a spiritually serene environment and gives us all we need for a happy and a fruitful marriage.
We counsel that, If the couple could provide each other with comfort of love, console each other in challenging times, shows each other affection and mercy, their soul becomes pampered and rested and doesn’t store toxic emotions which affect marriage.
